No. We use modern cartridge anaesthetics that work fast and keep the area numb for the whole procedure. Before the injection we apply a topical gel so that you barely feel the needle. Most patients who put treatment off for years out of fear say the same thing after their first visit: "why did I not come sooner?"
An implant is an artificial root in the bone: it leaves the neighbouring teeth untouched and lasts for decades. A bridge joins the neighbouring teeth, which have to be ground down. A removable denture is the affordable option, but less comfortable. At Houston we try not to touch healthy neighbouring teeth, so where possible we recommend an implant. The final choice is made after an examination and a 3D CT scan.
Yes, in many cases — this is immediate implant placement. It shortens the treatment and protects the bone from resorption. The protocol depends on the state of the socket after extraction, on whether there is inflammation, and on the volume of bone. Our surgeon assesses this at the consultation using the 3D CT scan.
All-on-4 and All-on-6 are protocols for restoring a whole jaw on implants when most or all of the teeth are gone. Instead of one implant per tooth, four or six implants carry a single fixed bridge across the entire arch. All-on-4 suits patients with enough bone; All-on-6 is used when the bone has atrophied or the load is higher. All-on-X is the individual option, where the number of implants is decided from the 3D CT data. At Houston we use a guided surgical template — the implants go in with an accuracy of 0.1 mm, and the patient receives a temporary fixed bridge on the day of surgery.
The "teeth in a day" protocol (Same Day Teeth) means that on the day the implants are placed the patient goes home with a temporary fixed bridge. This is possible thanks to digital planning done beforehand: the future restoration is modelled from the 3D CT scan, a guided template is made, and the temporary bridge is produced in advance. After 4–6 months the temporary bridge is replaced with a permanent zirconia-ceramic one. Throughout that time the patient eats, smiles and lives normally — with no removable denture.
Clear aligners are transparent removable trays that are almost invisible in conversation. They suit the great majority of cases. The one condition is discipline: 22 hours a day. Braces are more effective for complex skeletal problems and require no discipline — they are not taken off. The orthodontist chooses the method after an examination. Aligners at Houston start from UAH 99,000 (full course); braces from UAH 15,900 (one jaw).
Implants at Houston carry a 100% warranty per the manufacturer and clinic terms. Crowns and prosthetics are covered according to the material and the terms of the contract. One condition applies to the longevity of any work: a professional cleaning at the clinic every six months. We are honest about the timescales before treatment begins.
An ordinary cleaning means scraping tartar off with metal instruments. It hurts, it damages the enamel and the gums, and it does not reach below the gum line. That raw, scraped feeling afterwards is normal.

An ordinary X-ray is a flat shadow that shows no depth. A 3D CT scan produces a volumetric image: hidden canals, micro-cracks, the state of the bone before implants — everything visible to the millimetre.
