No signs so far — that is excellent. Still, a professional cleaning every six months keeps your gums healthy.

This is a rough self-check, not a diagnosis. Only an examination by a periodontist can be certain.
Why it matters

An ordinary cleaning vs EMS Prophylaxis

Ultrasound / scaler

The old approach

A metal scaler scratches the enamel and the root cementum — plaque then builds up faster
It cannot reach pockets deeper than 3–4 mm, where the pathogens live
Ordinary Air-Flow

Half a solution

Sodium bicarbonate is a coarse powder: it scratches enamel and irritates the gums
Reusable tips carry a risk of cross-infection
EMS Air-Flow Prophylaxis Master

The gold standard

Air, water and powder never touch the tooth — the enamel is not damaged
The PERIO tip reaches pockets up to 9 mm deep — where periodontitis takes hold
Single-use consumables for every patient
Original quality

Only original powders

No substitutes, no cheap copies. Every powder is certified and chosen for a specific clinical task.

PLUS
Standard hygiene

Erythritol with chlorhexidine — gentler than sand. It removes soft plaque and early staining without discomfort.

PERIO
Periodontitis / pockets

Glycine — an ultra-fine powder for pockets and around implants. It removes biofilm up to 9 mm deep without injuring the tissue.

Classic — Comfort
Stain removal

Sodium bicarbonate — for stubborn stains from coffee, tea, wine and tobacco. It restores the enamel's natural colour.

How it works

The hygiene protocol step by step

1

Examination and photographs

Assessment of the gums, measurement of pocket depth, and "before" photographs.

2

Air-Flow PLUS

Soft plaque and staining are removed from every tooth surface and from the gum sulcus.

3

Ultrasound + PERIO

Mineralised tartar and subgingival plaque are removed from pockets up to 9 mm deep.

4

Polishing and fluoride

The surface is sealed, so plaque sticks far more slowly.

5

Plan and coaching

A personal home-care plan, the right products, and a date for the next visit.

Periodontal treatment

Three stages, three approaches

Periodontitis progresses. The earlier we start, the less invasive the treatment.

01 · Mild
Gingivitis

Reversible

Bleeding when brushing, slight swelling. The bone is not yet affected.

Treatment: EMS Air-Flow hygiene plus adjustments to home care. One or two visits.
02 · Moderate
Periodontitis I–II

Action needed

Pockets of 4–6 mm and early bone loss. Mobility is minimal.

Treatment: Air-Flow PERIO, closed curettage and pocket irrigation. Two to four visits.
03 · Severe
Periodontitis III–IV

Do not delay

Deep pockets, marked bone loss, loose teeth.

Treatment: comprehensive therapy plus PRF plasma therapy to regenerate the tissue.
Safety

Single-use, for every patient

A new Air-Flow tip

A disposable tip and cap. Contact with a previous patient's saliva is physically impossible.

A new polishing brush

Even the final polishing brushes are single-use, one per patient.

Two-stage sterilisation

Thermal disinfection at 93°C, then an autoclave at 134°C. No compromise.

Fresh protection each time

New gloves, mask and eye protection. Class A infection control.

The doctor's view

Healthy gums last a lifetime

"Bleeding gums are not something you get used to, and they do not clear up by themselves. They are the beginning of an inflammation that quietly destroys the bone around the tooth. Caught early, periodontitis is stopped by professional hygiene and maintenance, with no teeth lost. That is why I always start by diagnosing the cause, not simply by cleaning."

Advice for patients
Brush twice a day for two minutes with a soft brush — and always clean between the teeth.
Bleeding is a reason to come in, not to stop brushing: gums bleed precisely because of plaque.
Professional hygiene every six months; every three to four if you are prone to periodontitis or have implants.
Honest answers

The questions everyone asks

With EMS Air-Flow, no. The stream of air and powder does not touch the tissue the way a metal scaler does. For very sensitive gums we apply a topical anaesthetic gel. Afterwards even the sensitivity you arrived with usually disappears.
Even perfect home care does not remove subgingival tartar or the biofilm between the teeth. Some 85% of gum damage occurs exactly in those hard-to-reach places. A brush physically cannot get there.
A standard cleaning takes 60–75 minutes. With heavy tartar or staining, up to 90. At subsequent visits (every six months) usually 45–60 minutes.
Yes. The PERIO powder (glycine) is designed for work around implants and prosthetic restorations and does not harm ceramic. For implants, EMS Air-Flow is the gold standard of maintenance hygiene.
A Cochrane review and independent randomised trials found no statistically significant advantage of Vector Paro over conventional curettage. We follow evidence-based protocols, so we use what genuinely works.
